City Park, Penang

City Park is a recreational area built on the site of a former granite quarry in George Town. The grounds feature children's play areas, swimming facilities, skating areas, reflexology paths for walking, and an outdoor performance venue.

The site was developed in 1972 to provide recreational opportunities and address community needs for outdoor activities. The transformation of a quarry into a public park marked a shift toward improved urban planning in the city.

A section of the park features seven dedicated wall surfaces that function as an open-air gallery for street art. These walls are regularly refreshed with new colorful works by local and visiting artists, showcasing the creative spirit of the community.
