Bloemendaal is a municipality in North Holland situated directly on the North Sea coast. The area consists of several residential neighborhoods and expansive sandy beaches along the shoreline.
The municipality took its current form in the 19th century as smaller settlements merged together. The area was shaped by tourism and beach culture once rail connections made coastal access easier.
The best way to explore the area is to walk or drive along the coastal road, which passes through the different beaches and neighborhoods. Most places are easily walkable once you arrive.
