Tegenbosch, Network arch bridge in Eindhoven, Netherlands

Tegenbosch is a network arch bridge made of steel that spans about 130 meters across the A2 motorway and the N2 regional expressway. The structure features a deck about 7 meters wide with integrated LED lighting in the railings, providing safe passage for pedestrians and cyclists at all hours.

The bridge was built in 2020, replacing an older crossing at Anthony Fokkerweg that was then converted for motor vehicle traffic. This marked a significant shift in how the city managed its transportation routes.

The name Tegenbosch comes from an old farm that once stood in this area, linking today's modern structure to the region's agricultural past. This connection between contemporary design and local heritage is felt by those crossing the bridge.

The bridge can become slippery in heavy rain, so extra caution is needed when cycling across it. The LED lighting helps during poor visibility, and the width allows both pedestrians and cyclists to move safely without crowding.

The entire structure, weighing about 1600 tons, was installed in just 6 hours using self-propelled modular transporters during a single coordinated operation. This remarkable feat of planning and execution minimized traffic disruption and showcased advanced engineering methods.
