Lillehammer

Lillehammer Municipality extends across valleys and mountains at 162 meters above sea level, bordering Lake Mjøsa and several national parks in central Norway.

The administrative division was formally established in 1838, later merging with Fåberg Municipality in 1964 to create its current territorial boundaries.

The Maihaugen open-air museum contains over 200 buildings from different periods, presenting Norwegian architectural traditions and daily life through centuries.

The municipality provides year-round outdoor activities with 450 kilometers of prepared cross-country skiing tracks in winter and extensive hiking trails in summer.

The Norwegian Olympic Museum preserves the heritage of the 1994 Winter Olympics through exhibits of equipment, medals, and historical documentation from the games.
