Lillehammer, Municipality with winter sports facilities in Innlandet, Norway.

Lillehammer is a municipality with winter sports facilities in Innlandet, Norway, stretching over valleys and mountains at 162 meters above sea level. The area borders Lake Mjøsa and several national parks in the central part of the country.

The administrative unit was officially founded in 1838 and later merged with Fåberg Municipality in 1964. This merger created the current boundaries of the area.

The Maihaugen open-air museum gathers over 200 buildings from past eras and shows Norwegian construction traditions and everyday life across the centuries. Visitors walk between historical houses and see furnishings, tools and household items from earlier times.

The area offers year-round outdoor activities with 450 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski tracks in winter and extensive hiking trails in summer. Most facilities are accessible on foot or by public transport from the town center.

The Norwegian Olympic Museum preserves the heritage of the 1994 Winter Games through exhibitions of equipment, medals and historical records of the competitions. Inside the building, the Olympic spirit is presented through athletes' items and documents of the events.
