Kushmanda Sarowar Triveni Dham, Hindu pilgrimage site in Hetauda, Nepal
Kushmanda Sarowar Triveni Dham is a religious sanctuary positioned where three rivers meet: the Karra, Kukhreni, and East Rapti. The complex includes the Kushmanda Bhagwati Temple and a sacred pond situated at these water confluences.
The sanctuary grounds underwent major restructuring beginning in 2010 under the direction of the Kushmanda Sarobaar Tribeni Shrine Development Committee. These developments shaped the current form of the religious complex.
Visitors bring winter melons to honor Goddess Kushmanda, who appears in local religious traditions with eight arms holding weapons while mounted on a lion.
Visitors can perform ritual bathing throughout the year at 108 water taps installed on the temple grounds or directly in the river confluence. The site is freely accessible and accommodates pilgrims at all times.
During Makar Sankranti festival, thousands gather for mass Upanayan ceremonies where young Hindu boys receive the sacred thread. This celebration draws immense crowds of devotees participating in this important spiritual milestone.
