Bagh Bhairab Temple

Located on a hilltop, this three-story temple features intricate wooden carvings, multiple roofs, and eighteen pinnacles adorned with copper decorations.

Built in the 16th century, the temple holds weapons from the Battle of Kirtipur, marking the resistance against King Prithvi Narayan Shah's invasion.

The temple hosts a special dance performance every twelve years where masked performers represent different deities through ceremonial death and resurrection rituals.

Visitors can access the temple through the main southern gate or additional entrances on the eastern and western sides of the brick-paved courtyard.

The central clay statue of Bagh Bhairab depicts the deity without a tongue, following a legend about shepherd children who created a tiger that came to life.
