Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate

Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate is an administrative region in northeastern Oman comprising six provinces with varied geography. The area encompasses desert expanses, mountain ranges, and valleys that create a diverse landscape throughout the territory.

The region was established in 2011 through administrative reform when the original Ash Sharqiyah Region was split into two separate governorates. This division created a new structure to better serve the northern and southern areas with separate administration.

Each of the six provinces expresses local traditions through craftsmanship and daily customs that shape how people live. Ibra serves as a gathering point where these different cultural practices come together and influence the rhythm of the region.

Wadi Bani Khalid is a natural wonder within the territory featuring water pools and caves carved by limestone erosion. This oasis provides a striking contrast to the surrounding desert and draws visitors interested in exploring the geological formations.
