Santa Ana, Municipality in Cagayan Province, Philippines
Santa Ana extends across multiple barangays and includes Palaui Island, forming the northeasternmost point of Luzon with a population of 35,688 residents.
In 1949, President Elpidio Quirino established the municipality through Executive Order No. 289, separating it from the existing territory of Gonzaga.
The annual Viray Festival celebrates the traditional wooden boats that supported generations of fishermen through parades and community competitions.
The municipality contains the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and maintains direct connections to Tuguegarao City, located 154 kilometers away.
The name Santa Ana derives from an acronym of three provincial officials' names rather than the religious figure Saint Anne.
