Bambang, municipality of the Philippines in the province of Nueva Vizcaya
Bambang is a municipality in Nueva Vizcaya province on the Philippines' western side, surrounded by mountains and covering about 345 square kilometers. The town features rolling hills, green fields, and scattered homes in a quiet setting with fresh mountain air.
Bambang was founded in 1609 by Spanish missionaries who built a small settlement and spread Christianity. The town's name originated from a peace agreement between tribes who buried their weapons at a place called 'Bang-Bang.'
The name Bambang comes from the old term 'Bang-Bang,' referring to a place where tribes once buried their weapons after ending their conflicts. The people speak mainly Ilocano or Gaddang and readily share their traditions with visitors who walk through the streets and observe daily life.
You can reach Bambang by bus from Metro Manila or other parts of Luzon, with the journey taking several hours. Once there, jeepneys and taxis are available for getting around town, and visiting during the dry season makes travel easier since mountain roads are in better condition.
The town is known for its large trading center where farmers from across the region sell their harvests and exchange goods. This market is one of the region's most important trading places and offers insight into the local economy and daily life.
