Salinas Natural Monument, Protected natural area in Cagayan Valley, Philippines.
The Salinas Natural Monument encompasses 6,675 hectares of saline springs and forested mountains across the municipalities of Bambang, Kayapa, and Aritao.
The area was first designated as Salinas Forest Reserve in 1914 through Executive Order No. 44, signed by Governor-General Francis Burton Harrison.
The mountain formations contain ancient salt mines that supplied local communities during Spanish and American colonial periods in the Philippines.
Visitors can reach the monument via a 15-kilometer road from the Pan-Philippine Highway in Bambang, located 80 kilometers south of Santiago city.
The natural spring deposited sulfate and carbonate salts over millions of years, creating a mountain of travertine that now serves as terraced fishponds.
