PhilSports Arena, sports venue
The PhilSports Arena is a large indoor facility in Pasig that is part of the larger PhilSports Complex, managed by the Philippine Sports Commission. The building features high ceilings and a wide main hall with seating arranged to provide clear views of the playing surface from multiple angles.
The arena opened in 1985 and initially became the home of the Philippine Basketball Association, which played games there through the early 1990s. Following renovations in 2005 and 2019, it was modernized and served as a venue for volleyball at the Southeast Asian Games in 2019.
The arena was originally called ULTRA (University of Life Theater and Recreational Arena) and was later renamed to better reflect its role as a sports venue. Today it remains a familiar place for local basketball fans and is regularly used for games and tournaments by various leagues.
The arena is easily accessible by public transportation or car, as it is located in a well-connected urban area of Pasig. Visitors should expect an energetic atmosphere and full seating during sports events and league games, especially on weekends and during sports seasons.
In 2025, the arena became the first location in the Philippines to host a FIFA event when it held the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the facility was also converted into a medical center to support patients.
