Ayala Tower One, Office building in Makati, Philippines
Ayala Tower One rises 35 stories and 160 meters (525 feet) tall at the intersection of Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas in Makati's business district. The structure features 15 elevators and operates under a strata title system, allowing multiple companies to own and manage their individual office spaces within the building.
The architectural firm Skidmore Owings Merrill designed this tower, which opened in 1996 as part of efforts to strengthen the Philippine Stock Exchange presence in Makati. It served as the headquarters for Ayala Corporation until operations relocated to Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2 in 2021.
This tower represents how Manila's business community shaped the skyline during the economic boom of the 1990s. The building houses numerous companies whose daily operations define the character of the Makati district today.
The building sits at a major intersection in the heart of the business district, making it straightforward to locate and access. Note that the interior consists primarily of office spaces, and the ground level is most active during regular business hours.
The tower served as the corporate headquarters for Ayala Corporation from 1996 until 2021, one of the Philippines' oldest and most influential conglomerates. The relocation to another building marked a significant shift in Makati's business landscape.
