Fort Frank, Military fortification in Manila Bay, Philippines
Fort Frank is a military installation on Carabao Island in Manila Bay, shaped by high cliffs overlooking the water. The installation has defense positions arranged strategically around the island.
The United States Army built Fort Frank in 1913 as part of Manila Bay's defense system. The installation was named after Brigadier General Royal T. Frank.
The fort shows the American military presence in the region and displays defense infrastructure from the early 20th century. Visitors can still see the building style and layout of structures that reflect this period.
Visitors need to take a boat from Cavite City to reach the island and require local permission to enter. Site conditions depend heavily on weather, so checking in advance is wise.
A tunnel network on the installation is where soldiers died in 1942 when artillery fire entered through an opening. These underground passages remain as evidence of World War II combat.
