Mount Marami, Cliff formation in Nasugbu, Philippines.
Mount Marami is a cliff formation in Nasugbu, in the southern part of Cavite province, known for its many steep stone pillars and rocky columns that cover the southern face of the summit. It sits within the Mounts Palay-Palay Protected Landscape, making it one of the more rugged peaks in the area.
Local people originally called the rock pillars Nagbuo, but climbers began using the name Marami, a Filipino word meaning "many," in reference to the numerous stone columns. That name stuck and is now the one used for the whole mountain.
At the top sits Silyang Bato, a natural rock formation shaped like a chair, where visitors stop to look out over the mountain ranges and the coastline of Cavite. This spot draws most climbers and is often seen as the real reward of the hike.
The hike starts at the Barangay Ramirez hall in Magallanes, where local guides are assigned to all visitors before setting off. The trail is steep and rocky throughout, so sturdy footwear is necessary and the full round trip takes several hours.
In 2014, a team of 5 people mapped the full trail connecting Mount Marami to the neighboring Palay-Palay for the first time. Since then, it has been possible to cross between both peaks in a single traverse, which made the mountain a popular stop on longer multi-peak routes.
