Washington Sycip Park, Urban park in Legaspi Village, Makati, Philippines
Washington Sycip Park is an urban green space in Legaspi Village, Makati, with native tropical trees, gazebos, and seating throughout. The rectangular layout also includes sculptures by Filipino artist Impy Pilapil and a koi pond that provide focal points within the design.
The park opened in 2006 as a collaborative effort between Ayala Land, the Makati Commercial Estate Association, and the City of Makati. It was created to honor the influential banker Washington SyCip and his contributions to the region.
Stone turtles at both entrances and large stone urns by the gateway reflect Chinese cultural elements tied to SyCip's childhood in Shanghai. These decorative touches tell a personal story and link the place to the founder's family heritage.
The space is open to the public for walking and relaxing in shade or open areas depending on the weather. Visitors should know that smoking and pets are not permitted to keep the environment pleasant for everyone.
Benches scattered throughout carry inspirational quotes from Washington SyCip that invite reflection. These words merge movement and thought, turning the space into something beyond a simple garden.
