Balaoan Church

Balaoan Church is a Baroque parish church featuring classical columns, lantern-shaped finials, and a scroll-shaped pediment across its front facade. The structure displays the ornamental architectural details typical of this style.

Construction started in 1820 under Father Juan Antonio Fernandez and was completed in 1864 under Father Valentin Noval. This extended building process shows how the church evolved over several decades.

The ceiling murals depict the Four Evangelists, while the side altars are dedicated to Our Lady of Namacpacan and Saint Nicholas of Tolentino. These religious images shape the interior and reflect which saints hold special meaning for worshippers here.

The building serves as an active religious center in the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union where regular masses and religious ceremonies take place. Visitors should dress respectfully and be mindful of service times.

The separate bell tower stands apart from the main structure and was built using a combination of lime, bricks, and stone materials. This separation of structures is a distinctive feature of the complex.
