Jubho Lagoon

The shallow brackish lagoon spans 706 hectares, featuring extensive mudflats and marshes that provide essential habitats for water birds and local wildlife species.

The World Wildlife Fund established a wetland visitor center at Jubho Lagoon in 1999 to promote environmental education and ecosystem conservation.

Local communities maintain traditional fishing practices and livestock grazing methods while preserving the ecological balance of this important wetland system.

The lagoon remains accessible throughout the year, with winter months offering opportunities to observe large populations of Dalmatian pelicans and flamingos.

Census data from 1997 recorded between 40,000 and 50,000 American flamingos inhabiting the lagoon, marking it as a major congregation site.
