Zero Point railway station, eastern terminus of the Hyderabad–Khokhrapar Branch Line; used for immigration and customs of passengers who travel on the Thar Express between Pakistan and India
Zero Point is a railway station in Umarkot, Sindh, located near the border between Pakistan and India. The small facility has a ground-level platform and serves mainly as an immigration checkpoint for train passengers crossing between the two countries.
The station opened in 2006 when the railway line from Mirpur Khas to Munabao was converted from narrow gauge to broad gauge. This upgrade allowed trains to run more stably and carry more passengers and freight across the border.
The station serves as a crossing point where people from both countries meet for travel and trade. Its name refers directly to its location at the border, making it a symbol of the connection between two nations.
The station has no shops or cafes, so travelers should bring refreshments or eat before arriving. The facility is straightforward with clear signage, and passengers with valid documents can board or exit without significant delays at the checkpoint.
The station is the eastern terminus of the Hyderabad-Khokhrapar Branch Line and was renamed Marvi railway station in 2019 to honor local traditions. Occasionally the Thar Express stops here when political or trade agreements between the two countries allow border travel.
