Piekary Śląskie

Piekary Śląskie is a city in the Silesian Highlands along the Brynica river near Katowice. A Centre of Sport and Recreation offers various facilities for physical activities and outdoor entertainment.

The city was formed in 1934 from the merger of two earlier communities and received its current name in 1935. This founding established it as a significant centre in the industrial Upper Silesian region.

The Basilica of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew draws Catholic pilgrims from across the region to venerate a sacred painting housed within its walls. The church remains a living spiritual hub where locals and visitors gather for prayer and reflection throughout the year.
