University Church of the Blessed Name of Jesus in Wrocław, Baroque university church in Wrocław, Poland.

The University Church of the Blessed Name of Jesus is a baroque church in Wrocław featuring a main nave with two rows of chapels on either side. Intricate ceiling paintings run throughout the interior, and a central altar from 1722 stands as the focal point of the worship space.

The church was built by the Jesuits in 1689 on the remains of a medieval Piast castle that once stood on this site. This location became central to the university complex and shaped the religious life of the city for centuries.

The interior walls display illusionistic paintings by Johann Michael Rottmayr that show religious scenes from different continents, creating a sense of global spiritual connection. These artistic works shape how the space looks and how visitors move through it to admire the details.

The church is easily accessed from University Square and maintains regular opening hours, though visits during religious services may be restricted. Arriving in the morning is ideal for enjoying the interior with fewer crowds and better light for viewing the artworks.

The northern sacristy contains preserved remnants of the medieval Piast castle that was buried beneath the building when the church was constructed. Few visitors notice these archaeological fragments that connect the baroque structure to the site's earlier fortress past.
