The zoological garden spans 125 hectares within the Tri-City Landscape Park, featuring over 1000 animals from 200 species across all continents.

The zoo opened its gates on May 1, 1954, starting with small animals donated by local residents, including rabbits, hamsters, and foxes.

The facility participates in European Breeding Programs through EAZA membership, supporting conservation efforts for endangered species worldwide.

Two bus lines connect the zoo with Oliwa tram terminal: line 169 operates year-round, while line 622 runs during summer season.

This facility stands as Poland's sole home to orangutans and maintains the largest colony of Humboldt penguins in the country.
