Gompa Drophan Ling in Darnków, Buddhist temple in Darnków, Poland.
Gompa Drophan Ling is a Buddhist meditation center in Darnków, Poland, built in the Bhutanese architectural style. It consists of a main meditation hall and several surrounding buildings, decorated with painted murals and hand-carved details throughout.
The sangha received an estate in Darnków from Chimé Rigdzin Rinpoche in 1995, and construction of the center began in 1999. The meditation hall received its painted decoration in 2007, carried out by artists from Bhutan.
The gompa follows the Khordong tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, a lineage rarely found in Europe. Visitors walking through the grounds can see prayer flags, ritual objects, and painted walls that shape the daily rhythm of the community.
The center is open to visitors and offers meditation sessions and Buddhist teachings. Modest dress is expected, and it helps to be considerate of community members who are actively practicing on the grounds.
The painted murals inside the meditation hall were created using pigments and techniques brought directly from Bhutan by the artists themselves. This makes the hall one of the very few places in Poland where this specific painting tradition can be seen in person.
