Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów, Mountain hut in High Tatras, Poland.
Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów is a mountain hut in the High Tatras located at 1671 meters elevation. It contains 13 rooms with 67 beds arranged in different configurations for overnight visitors.
The building began operations in 1956 after construction from 1947 to 1953 under architect Anna Górska. This development was part of expanding mountain infrastructure for climbers and hikers in the region.
The hut serves traditional Polish mountain dishes in its dining room and supports mountaineering traditions through guided excursions and training for climbers.
The hut is accessible only by hiking trails, with the easiest green-marked route starting from Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza through Roztoka Valley. Visitors should bring proper hiking gear and mountain experience for the trek.
The shelter uses ecological solutions including a biological sewage treatment plant and a small hydroelectric power station installed in 2010. These systems demonstrate how to operate with minimal environmental impact in a sensitive mountain setting.
