Mountain shelter PTTK "Murowaniec"

Mountain shelter PTTK "Murowaniec" is a stone building at 1500 meters above sea level in the Tatra Mountains, offering 116 beds spread across multiple rooms. The building includes dining areas, sleeping quarters, and basic facilities for day visitors and overnight guests.

The shelter was founded in 1925 and underwent significant changes following a fire in 1963, after which restoration work renewed the building. These events shaped its present condition and role as a mountain base.

The shelter's name honors the Polish Tourist Association PTTK, which founded and continues to operate it. Visitors can see how the place remains a center where climbers gather and share their mountain experiences.

Access is via marked hiking trails from Kuźnice, with different routes offering varying levels of difficulty depending on your choice of path. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear and prepare for changeable mountain weather conditions.

The stairs of the shelter display early decorative patterns that blend Polish mountain craft traditions with Eastern artistic elements. These ornaments are rarely noticed yet show how different cultures met in highland architecture.
