Skrajna Turnia, Mountain peak in Tatra Mountains, Poland and Slovakia
Skrajna Turnia is a granite summit in the High Tatras that rises to 2,097 meters and marks the border between Poland and Slovakia. The peak is part of a mountain cluster with multiple established climbing routes of varying difficulty.
The first documented ascent took place in the late 1800s when mountaineers began exploring the technically demanding routes of the Tatras. These early climbs established the peak as a destination for skilled climbers in Europe.
The peak is known by different names across the border: Skrajna Turnia in Polish and Krajná Kopa in Slovak. These variations reflect how local communities on each side have maintained their own way of naming important landmarks.
Access is available through about 15 different climbing routes, with the path from Kasprowy Wierch being the most commonly used during summer. Visitors should prepare for rocky sections, changing weather conditions at altitude, and technical climbing requirements.
The peak is one of approximately 47 summits in the Tichá dolina valley system and has a prominence of only 25 meters. This small elevation difference to neighboring peaks makes it a notable but often overlooked destination compared to larger neighboring summits.
