Kończysta, Mountain summit in Tatra Mountains, Poland.
Kończysty Wierch is a peak in the Tatra Mountains reaching 2,466 meters in height. The summit features steep rock faces and alpine meadows in the Polish section of this mountain range.
The peak has served as a natural boundary between Poland and Slovakia since both nations became independent following World War I. This border location shaped the mountain culture of the region.
Local mountaineers maintain traditional climbing routes through the peak, passing knowledge of safe passages from generation to generation.
Access to the summit is possible via marked trails from June through September when weather allows safe climbing without technical gear. Hikers should familiarize themselves with local conditions and prepare appropriately for the elevation and terrain.
From the summit you can see both of the highest peaks in the entire Tatra range: Gerlachovský Štít and Lomnický Štít are clearly visible from this vantage point. This rare perspective allows you to grasp the full scale of the mountains.
