Sines

Sines is a coastal city in the Setúbal region along the Atlantic shore, with sandy beaches and a working waterfront. The deep-water port and industrial zones form the backbone of the city's economy and landscape.

Construction of the castle began in the 14th century as a defense against seaborne attacks and piracy. This marked the foundation of the settlement and its role as a strategic coastal outpost.

The summer Músicas do Mundo festival brings musicians from around the world to perform in the city. Locals and visitors gather to experience live music and cultural exchange in an open-air setting.

The city is well connected by road and railway, making travel convenient for arrivals and departures. The flat terrain and proximity to water make exploring on foot or by bike straightforward.

Archaeological digs have uncovered Roman settlement remains including fish processing tanks carved directly into the rocky coast. These ancient structures date back to the first centuries after Christ.
