Sintra-Cascais Natural Park

The park spans 17,000 hectares from Sintra mountains to Cascais, combining forests, sand dunes, steep cliffs, and long beaches along the Atlantic Ocean.

The Portuguese government established this protected area in 1981 to maintain the ecological balance between coastal formations and mountain landscapes of Sintra.

Local farmers within the park boundaries continue traditional agricultural practices, producing fruits and wines in designated cultivation zones.

The reserve remains accessible every day throughout the year, with marked trails connecting key points from Cape Roca to Guincho Beach.

The park contains specific microclimates where Atlantic, Mediterranean, and continental influences create conditions for rare plant species to grow.
