Ion Creangă memorial house

The Ion Creangă memorial house is a modest dwelling in Iași that belonged to the celebrated writer. It features two main rooms with traditional Romanian elements from the 19th century, complemented by a modern cultural complex with an outdoor amphitheater.

The writer moved into the house in 1872 and spent many years there producing his most important works. The building was later transformed into one of Romania's earliest memorial sites dedicated to a literary figure.

The house carries the name of the writer whose works shaped Romanian literature and storytelling traditions. Visitors can observe how the author lived and worked, surrounded by the simple objects of everyday life from his era.

The site includes the original cottage and a modern cultural center that visitors can explore at their own pace. The grounds are easy to navigate and provide space for various activities and performances throughout the year.

The author kept many cats in his house and named them after people from his native village of Humuleşti. This unusual fondness for cats is still visible today through the personal belongings and documents preserved at the site.
