Saint Parascheva Church, Iași

Saint Parascheva Church is an Orthodox church in the Păcurari district of Iași, built between 1852 and 1858. The building has a rectangular nave with arched ceiling, a curved altar area, and a prism-shaped bell tower that stands on a stone foundation.

The church was built on the site of a wooden structure from 1730 that was dedicated to Archangels Michael and Gabriel. An even older sanctuary existed at this location during the reign of Vasile Lupu, and its remains can still be found in the ground today.

The church holds important religious objects, including two Gospel Books from Neamț Monastery and silver communion boxes from the 19th century. These items show the spiritual meaning and religious traditions that mattered to the community over time.

The church is located on Păcurari Street near the Central University Library and is easy to reach. The building has been thoroughly renovated after World War II damage and is in good condition for visitors.

Archaeological work has revealed remains of an even older church from the time of Vasile Lupu, showing this place has been a center of faith for centuries. A cross in the outdoor area marks the location of the old altar and reminds visitors of the site's long history.
