Braunstein Palace in Iași, Art nouveau palace in central Iași, Romania
Braunstein Palace is an Art Nouveau building in central Iași featuring a striking cupola and architectural elements typical of early twentieth-century Romanian design. The structure stands out with its expressive facade and refined details that reflect its era.
The palace was built by Jewish entrepreneur Adolf Braunstein at the start of the 1900s on the site of former commercial structures. The building reflects the era when such private palaces represented urban prosperity and merchant success.
Today the building houses the Cupola Galleries, serving as exhibition space for the Union of Fine Artists of Romania. The rooms regularly host art exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year.
The building underwent extensive renovations between 2018 and 2020 through the Regional Operational Program and now operates as a modern cultural center. Visitors can explore the exhibition spaces during regular hours.
The building served multiple roles throughout its history, functioning as a hotel, bank, and political party headquarters at different periods. These shifts show how the building's importance and use evolved with changing times.
