Cheile Șugăului, Nature reserve in Neamt County, Romania

The gorge became a protected nature reserve in 1971 and received formal recognition from the Romanian government. This protection status helped preserve the geological formations and natural features from development.

Visitors should wear sturdy footwear to cross water streams and maintain grip on wet surfaces. Access is restricted during rainy weather because water levels can rise quickly, making the passage unsafe.
The gorge contains multiple natural springs whose water deposits minerals over millennia. This slow geological process created the largest travertine formations found in the surrounding mountain range.
