Poiana narciselor Gurghiu

Poiana Narciselor Gurghiu is a nature reserve located in mountain meadows of the Gurghiu range at approximately 1200 meters elevation. The area features large populations of wild daffodils that create a distinctive appearance during the spring flowering season.

The reserve gained protected status between 1994 and 2002 when conservation efforts and research camps focused on studying local bird populations in the area. These early scientific investigations established the foundation for the reserve's current management and protection policies.

The meadow takes its name from the wild daffodils that blanket the mountainside and define how locals experience this place each spring. Seasonal celebrations connect the flowering period to regional traditions and mark an important moment in the mountain community's annual cycle.

The reserve is accessible by vehicle from Sovata, followed by hiking through forest paths to reach the meadow area. Plan your visit between late April and early May to see the daffodils at their peak bloom.

The reserve enforces a strict daily visitor limit of only 15 people to minimize environmental impact. This policy protects the meadow and wildlife while creating a quiet experience far different from typical tourist destinations.
