Bornemissza castle in Gurghiu

Bornemissza Castle is a fortress with baroque architecture located in Gurghiu village, featuring a prominent clock tower and an interior chapel. The stone structure contains multiple rooms and spaces used for exhibitions and educational programs.

Prince Rákóczi György I began the castle's construction in the early period, and Bornemissza János completed major renovation work between 1718 and 1734. Materials from nearby ruins were reused during this renovation to rebuild and strengthen the fortress.

The castle houses a hunting museum that opened in 1970, displaying trophy collections and a specialized library for visitors to explore. The space serves as a center for understanding regional hunting traditions and practices.
