The Greek Church displays a cruciform structure with two spires, incorporating Byzantine Revival architecture along with Greek, Gothic, and Renaissance Revival elements.
Construction of the church began in 1863 when the Greek community of Brăila needed a place of worship for residents and travelers through the port.
Three different artists contributed to the interior paintings: Gheorghe Tattarescu in 1872, Constantinos Livadas Liochis in 1901, and Dimitrie Belizarie in 1945-1946.
The church stands at 3 Calea Călărașilor in Brăila and operates under the administration of the Lower Danube Archdiocese of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
During construction, workers discovered an underground stream flowing into a well, and its water receives annual blessings for use as holy water.
