Kraljevo

Kraljevo sits where the West Morava and Ibar rivers meet, with hills surrounding the urban area on all sides. The city's layout follows this natural geography, with the waterways and elevated terrain shaping how neighborhoods spread across the landscape.

The city takes its name from the Serbian word 'kralj' meaning king and received this name in 1882 under King Milan I. This renaming marked a turning point in the city's history and its role within the growing Serbian state.

The Monastery of Žiča nearby served as the spiritual heart of Serbia for centuries and hosted the coronations of medieval rulers. Today, pilgrims and visitors still feel the weight of this sacred history when they explore its grounds.
