Rajinovac, Serbian Orthodox monastery in Begaljica, Serbia.
Rajinovac is a Serbian Orthodox monastery in Begaljica, Serbia, built from a mix of chiselled and broken limestone blocks combined with sandstone. The complex includes a monastery church, accommodation for visitors, and an outdoor spring water source.
The monastery first appeared in Ottoman records in 1528 under the name Monastery of Saint Rajko. Its most important restoration took place in 1793, when Knez Stevan Andrejević rebuilt much of the complex into the form it holds today.
The monastery is dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God, and visitors can attend traditional liturgical services held throughout the year. On religious feast days, many faithful from the surrounding area gather here to pray together.
The monastery offers overnight accommodation and welcomes visitors throughout the year. Bring modest clothing for a religious site and plan your visit around prayer times, which may affect access to certain areas.
The monastery keeps a venerated icon of the Mother of God of Rajinovac, which local tradition links to fertility blessings. Couples hoping to start or grow a family often make a special journey here to pray before it.
