Rajinovac, Serbian Orthodox monastery in Begaljica, Serbia.
Rajinovac is a Serbian Orthodox monastery in Begaljica built with a combination of chiselled and broken limestone blocks mixed with sandstone. The complex follows traditional Serbian building styles and includes a monastery church, visitor accommodation, and an external spring water source.
The monastery was originally documented in Ottoman records from 1528 as the Monastery of Saint Rajko. Its first major restoration took place in 1793 under Knez Stevan Andrejević, establishing the complex in its current form.
The monastery is dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God and serves as a spiritual center for the local community. Visitors can witness traditional liturgical ceremonies that continue throughout the year.
The site offers overnight accommodation and a small chapel for visitors. Bring appropriate clothing for a religious site and check visiting hours as they may align with prayer times.
The monastery preserves a special icon of the Mother of God of Rajinovac, which local tradition associates with fertility blessings. This venerated image draws couples seeking blessings for their families.
