Obrenović Villa

Obrenović Villa is a neoclassical building standing on the northern slopes of Plavinac Hill with views over the Danube River and the estate's vineyards. The main residence is accompanied by several outbuildings that together form a residential complex from the 19th century.

Prince Miloš Obrenović established the estate between 1827 and 1829, acquiring vineyards from Turkish landowners. The villa later became a summer residence and administrative center under King Milan and Queen Natalija.

The residence served as a gathering place for artists and writers who attended cultural events and celebrations held here. The royal family used these occasions to demonstrate their support for intellectual and artistic life.

The residence opens to visitors from April through October, and group visits require advance arrangements through the Tourist Organization of Smederevo. Comfortable shoes are recommended as the grounds sit on hillsides with some paved pathways throughout the property.

A Persian carpet from the 17th century still decorates King Milan's study within the villa. This precious textile reveals the refined taste and international sophistication of the royal residents.
