The Patriarchate Court, Sremski Karlovci, Palace and Cultural Monument in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia
The Patriarchate Court is a palace with eclectic architecture and Italian influences located in Sremski Karlovci. Its facade displays seventeen semicircular windows, classical pilasters, and a central covered entrance.
The project started with a construction fund established by Metropolitan Stefan Stratimirović. The palace was then built between 1892 and 1895 under architect Vladimir Nikolić.
The building houses religious art collections visible in its attached Church Museum. Visitors see old icons, handwritten documents, and portraits of church leaders from past centuries.
The building serves as the residence of the Bishop of Srem and summer home of the Serbian Patriarch. Public visits are possible with advance notice and should be arranged beforehand.
The building's floor plan is arranged in the shape of the Cyrillic letter 'S', which becomes visible when viewing the overall layout. Above the entrance sits a Royal Chapel decorated with wall paintings by artist Uroš Predić.
