The Monastery of St. Petka Ostrovica stands as a single-nave building constructed in Serbian-Byzantine style within the Niš Diocese territory.
The monastery, established during the reign of Uros Nejaki in the 14th century, provided refuge for monks fleeing from Ottoman forces.
The monastery received its name Iverica from the monks of the Georgian monastery of Iviron who founded this religious structure.
Visitors can reach the monastery through the E-80 road from central Niš, with the journey taking approximately 30 minutes by car.
The building features a distinctive blue sky ceiling design and holds the status of Serbia's first military monastery.
