Balashikha is an industrial city in Moscow Oblast located roughly 25 kilometers east of the capital along the Pekhorka River. The area consists of factory complexes, multi-story residential blocks, and some green spaces along the riverbanks that shape the urban landscape.
A textile factory opened here in 1830 and brought workers and families to the area, which slowly developed into a larger settlement. Official city status was granted in 1939, while industry continued to expand throughout the 20th century.
