Rubtsovsk, Industrial center in Altai Krai, Russia
Rubtsovsk is an industrial city on the Aley River in Altai Krai, located about 280 kilometers southwest of Barnaul. The streets run through flat terrain, surrounded by open fields and scattered tree clusters.
The settlement started in 1892 as a village and grew rapidly after the railway line was built. City status was granted in 1927, when factories began expanding.
The name comes from Mikhail Rubtsov, an early settler who shaped the community's beginnings. Cultural centers today host performances that reflect the working-class families who have lived here for generations.
The railway station connects the town with other stops along the Turk-Sib route, and several bus lines run between residential neighborhoods. Pavements are available in the center, while outer streets tend to be less maintained.
The former airport grounds now serve as an informal meeting spot for car hobbyists who occasionally organize races there. The abandoned runway offers enough space for such spontaneous weekend events.
