Nyagan is a town in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of Russia, located on the West Siberian Plain and surrounded by vast coniferous forests and marshlands. Wide streets run through the settlement, where Soviet-era residential blocks stand alongside newer buildings serving the oil industry.
The discovery of oil deposits in 1965 led to the founding of this settlement, which quickly grew into a center for petroleum extraction. Over the following decades, the population expanded as workers and engineers moved here from other parts of the Soviet Union.
