Worker and Kolkhoz Woman, Steel monument at VDNKh, Moscow, Russia
The stainless steel sculpture depicts two figures, a male worker with a hammer and a female farmer with a sickle, reaching skyward together.
The 24.5-meter monument premiered at the 1937 Paris World Fair, standing opposite the German pavilion as a statement of Soviet power.
The sculpture became the symbol of Mosfilm studio in 1947, appearing in opening sequences of numerous Russian motion pictures through decades.
The museum inside the pedestal displays exhibits about the monument construction process and Soviet architectural achievements from Tuesday through Sunday.
Engineers developed a special supporting truss system to maintain the flowing metal scarf connecting both figures in the stainless steel structure.
