The Lenin monument stands as a bronze statue on a granite pedestal in front of Pavilion 1 of the exhibition complex. The figure depicts the leader in an upright posture with a forward-directed gesture.
The monument was erected in 1954 as part of the exhibition complex after an earlier Stalin statue was removed. The granite pedestal was later reshaped in 1967 for this monument and bears the traces of these changes.
The sculpture shows Soviet monumental art from the 1950s and reflects socialist realism in its form and execution. Visitors can see how Lenin is portrayed with a gesture meant to express leadership and forward direction.
The monument is accessible daily and located at the main entrance of the exhibition complex. The nearby VDNKh metro station makes it easy to reach the location.
The granite pedestal has a special history: it originally supported two statues and was later rebuilt for this single monument. Observant visitors can still see traces of its earlier use.
