Pavilion No 5 Physics, Physics exhibition pavilion at VDNKh, Moscow, Russia
Pavilion No. 5 Physics is an exhibition building at VDNKh in Moscow, distinguished by twelve paired columns framing its main facade. The large windows originally contained stained glass depicting Latvian landscapes.
The building was completed in 1954 and first served as the Latvian SSR pavilion. It was transformed in 1964 into the Physics pavilion and has served that purpose since.
The building houses the Moscow City Management Museum, with interactive displays about how the city's infrastructure and services work. Visitors can see the systems that quietly support daily urban life.
Visiting works best during daytime when natural light highlights the architecture and displays. You can explore the three main sections in about one to two hours.
A 30-meter screen inside displays real-time data from Moscow's automated dispatch system. Visitors can watch how thousands of the city's operations are monitored simultaneously.
