Moscow Sun, Ferris wheel at Exhibition of National Economy, Moscow, Russia
Moscow Sun is a 140-meter-tall structure with 30 glass cabins offering panoramic views across the Russian capital extending up to 50 kilometers. Each temperature-controlled cabin holds 15 passengers, and one complete rotation takes approximately 18 minutes and 40 seconds.
The structure opened in 2022 and replaced an earlier ferris wheel that previously occupied this location. It was built as part of celebrations marking the city's 875th anniversary.
The wheel stands at VDNKh, a center displaying Russian achievements, where it represents modern engineering progress in the country. Visitors experience the city from a new vantage point while observing this structure as a visible symbol of technical capability.
The wheel operates in various weather conditions, allowing visitors to enjoy the ride during rain or snow without concern. The ascent from bottom to top happens gradually, giving passengers plenty of time to observe and photograph the city views.
The wheel is powered by 14 electric motors, making it the tallest operating ferris wheel in Europe and surpassing better-known structures in other countries. This technical setup enables smooth and reliable operation even during extreme weather conditions.
