Fili

Fili is a district in western Moscow that stretches between the Moskva River and Poklonnaya Hill, combining residential neighborhoods with industrial facilities. The area contains a 17th-century baroque church and various apartment buildings that shape the character of the district today.

The Church of the Intercession was built in 1694 as a notable example of Naryshkin Baroque architecture. The location gained further historical weight when General Kutuzov held a military council here in September 1812 and decided to withdraw from Moscow before Napoleon's advancing forces.

The Church of the Intercession displays distinctive Naryshkin Baroque features with ornate white stone details and decorative elements visible from the outside. This architectural style shaped local identity and remains a landmark people recognize when exploring the neighborhood.

The Fili metro station on the Filyovskaya Line offers the most convenient access to the district, with protected platforms on both sides. The area is relatively flat and easy to walk through, though some sections near the hill are steeper.

The Khrunichev aerospace plant operates here as the district's major industrial presence, evolving from its origins as a factory that assembled aircraft in the early 1900s. This manufacturing legacy continues to define the character and employment of the neighborhood.
