Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, Concert hall in Saint Petersburg, Russia

The Saint Petersburg Philharmonia consists of two performance spaces: the Grand Hall with 1500 seats and the Small Hall for chamber concerts.

Founded in 1802, the Philharmonia operated first as the Imperial Music Choir, performing for the Court of Alexander III in Saint Petersburg.

The venue witnessed premieres of compositions by Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Mussorgsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The Philharmonia maintains two resident orchestras: the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Saint Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra.

During concert encores in the Grand Hall, the orchestra performs 'The Hymn to the Great City' by Reinhold Glière as a local tradition.
