Adalary, Rock formation in Yalta, Crimea.
Adalary comprises two white limestone rocks that rise from the Black Sea near the Gurzuf coastline. The taller formation reaches approximately 48 meters while its companion reaches about 35 meters above the water surface.
Natural erosion processes gradually separated these formations from the mainland, isolating them as rock islands by the late 19th century. Wave action and weathering continued to shape their distinctive appearance over subsequent decades.
The local name for these rocks is Belie Kamni, which means White Stones in Russian, a name that directly reflects their pale color. This terminology remains common among fishers and residents who see them daily from the shore.
These rocks are best observed through boat excursions departing regularly from Gurzuf harbor. The optimal season runs from April through October when sea conditions are most favorable for viewing.
The underwater environment around these rocks contains numerous caves and grottoes that provide natural habitats for Black Sea marine species. Snorkelers and divers discover a varied marine ecosystem with different fish species and invertebrates.
